Firemen's sirens silenced
WORRIED firefighters today blasted new rules banning them from speeding to some incidents with flashing blue lights and sirens.
Under new guidelines designed to reduce road accidents involving their engines crews will only be allowed to travel above the speed limit and use their blues and twos to get to fires where there is an immediate threat to life or property.
But the new rules have been met with concern by Sheffield firefighters, who say travelling at normal speeds for less serious emergency calls could "definitely" put lives and property at risk........
